Atlas HELM LEASING SD-60 Diesel Locomotive
The EMD SD60 is a 3,800 horsepower (2,800 kW), six-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division, intended for heavy-duty drag freight or medium-speed freight service. It was introduced in 1984, and production ran until 1995.
Helm Leasing is a Railroad equipment Leasing company. Helm Financial Corp. was acquired by First Union Rail, a Wells Fargo Company in April 2014. First Union Rail is a full-service rail leasing company offering rail cars and locomotives for lease.
The SD60 varied little from its predecessor visually, the main changes taking place internally with the aging 645F engine being replaced by the 710G. The two locomotives can be distinguished by the door panels; the SD50 features four latched doors in six door panels whereas the SD60 has six latched doors in eight door panels.
