The ESU 51963 is a compact miniature relay for model railway installations. It allows you to safely switch loads up to 1 Ampere at 12–16 Volts that exceed the output capacity of a decoder’s function output. By connecting the relay between the decoder and the load, you can control higher-current devices such as lighting circuits, smoke units, or animated scenery without overloading the decoder.
This relay is gauge-neutral, suitable for use across N, HO, OO, and other scales. Its small size makes it easy to integrate into tight spaces on layouts.
Load capacity: 1 Ampere, 12–16 Volts
Dimensions: approx. 10 × 7.25 × 9.7 mm (excluding pins)
Connects between decoder output and load to safely switch higher currents
Suitable for analog (DC) and digital (DCC) control
Gauge-neutral, multi-scale accessory
Product number: 51963
Uses:
Layout-mounted accessory for controlling higher-current devices on model railway circuits. Ideal for:
Lighting circuits for buildings or streetlamps
Smoke generators on locomotives (controlled via decoder output)
Animated scenery (crossing gates, signals, turntables, etc.)
Any other layout device exceeding decoder function output capacity
