The Hobbytrain H2944 models the Am 843 diesel locomotive operated by the Bern–Lötschberg–Simplon Railway (BLS) in Switzerland during Epoch V. Based on the Vossloh G 1700 design, the prototype is a powerful four-axle diesel-hydraulic locomotive developed for heavy shunting, freight movements and mainline duties.

BLS acquired Am 843 locomotives for demanding infrastructure and operational work associated with the Lötschberg route. The versatile design allowed the locomotives to handle heavy yard movements and freight duties while operating on non-electrified sections or where overhead electrical power was unavailable.

This N Scale model is supplied for analogue DC operation and features a Next18 digital interface for optional DCC conversion. It is equipped with directional red and white LED lighting, a bell-armature motor with two flywheels and eight-wheel drive for dependable operation.
