“...the SAR Legend Lives on...”
SARM Models are for serious adult collectors.
This Shosholoza Meyl Dining Car represents one of the catering vehicles used on long-distance passenger services operated by the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) under the Shosholoza Meyl brand.
Introduced as part of the modernised Shosholoza Meyl service launched in July 2001, these dining cars were finished in the distinctive purple, yellow, and blue livery that became a hallmark of PRASA’s long-distance passenger operations. The colour scheme follows a repeating pattern across the coach sides and typically includes the Shosholoza Meyl logo positioned toward the lower right section of the carriage body.
Dining cars such as this example provided essential onboard catering services for passengers travelling on extended journeys between major cities. Many of these vehicles were refurbished from earlier stock originally built during the era of the South African Railways (SAR), extending their working lives into the modern PRASA era.
