The Modelbahn Union Tanoos 896 swing roof wagon is a highly detailed N Scale freight model representing modern bulk freight operations of German Railways DB Cargo.
Introduced from 1998 onwards, the Tanoos wagon was specifically developed for the low-dust transport of bulk materials such as potash, feed products, sand, and other industrial commodities. The wagon uses a pivoting swing roof system for protected loading and four underside discharge slides for efficient unloading operations.
These wagons are typically operated in heavy block train formations across Germany and neighbouring European freight corridors. Over time, the prototype fleet has appeared under various DB freight branding phases including DB Cargo, Railion, Railion DB Logistics, and DB Schenker.
This limited edition Modelbahn Union release carries DB Cargo markings and features realistic open-frame construction, separately fitted metal handrails and cable details, optional running surfaces, detailed multi-side printing including wagon ends, and multiple interchangeable coupling systems for flexible operation and display.
