This South African Railways SAR GZb double deck livestock wagon represents a classic cattle transport vehicle used across the SAR network for moving livestock between rural farming areas and market destinations. Finished in silver livery, this double deck livestock wagon reflects the specialised design used to maximise animal transport capacity while maintaining safe and efficient rail operations.

The GZb cattle wagon is a distinctive and historically recognisable vehicle within SAR freight operations, making it a valuable addition to livestock, agricultural, and mixed freight consists.

These wagons were placed into service around 1979, having been converted from older GZ-7 large livestock wagons. The design included ventilation openings on both the sides and ends to ensure safe livestock transport. Originally fitted with SARCast bogies, many were later updated to Spoorbarber bogies during service life improvements. In the South African Railways classification system, the letter "G" typically denoted a livestock wagon, while subsequent letters specified subtypes or modifications, such as "Z" for bogie livestock wagons and "B" often indicating modifications for smaller livestock transport.

This model is fitted with Kadee couplers, ensuring reliable coupling performance and compatibility with layouts using Kadee-equipped rolling stock.
